First (known) 2015 ZO6 engine is TOAST!

Sucks to be this guy. Oddly enough, they go by the handle of "lawdogg149" over on the Vette Forum.

That does suck. Regardless of it being replaced... still sucks.

Least it's covered under warranty. Don't they have rev limiters?

No doubt it has a rev limiter. I think the article says he shifted before red line. Maybe he shifted from 2nd back in to 1st? That'd do it!

It does, but he's not going to admit shifting it past redline lol....that's why I asked. I've bounced mine a few times off the limiter. Not something I try to make a habit of though.

I'd be more concerned with going from 2nd back to 1st, than hitting the limiter!

If he did over rev it, I'm sure the black box recorded it.

2nd to 1st sounds more plausible... can't say I've ever made that mistake.

you mean hopping the rear end because of a down shift is a bad thing...?

I have ('01 WS6), and although it didn't cause me to bend a valve, it was NOT good!

I hopped mine one time about 6 months ago...I say I hopped the rear end, it chirped on a downshift lol...I was getting a little too excited in the mountains and downshifted "on purpose" but I was too high in the RPMs and didnt come down as fast as I thought I would when I hit the brakes before entering a corner...oops?

A link to the video when the failure happened saw it earlier this morning. He shifts around mid 6k rpm range. GM already delivered the new engine after only a day and asked the techs to ship it back to them so they can look at it.

Yes, sucks to be him. The worst of the gauntlet of issues that car is having. Cars won't start, another shut off on a guy in the middle of traffic. Surging, etc. I think I made a good call cancelling my order.

As much as I love the car, buying the '1st year' of anything, usually isn't the best move.

Yep, paid for by teh good 'ol taxpayers money. I remember the picture of the engine bay - and low and behold, it was the pic of a Cobra's engine bay, not that of a patrol cruiser.
