first check out ebay. there is a lot of junk on there so keep that in mind. most of the small pieces like grommets and screws just go to your local yami dealer. most of the small stuff isnt that expensive.
also check out bike forums like r6messagenet and r1forum. also google search to find some good for sale sections.
dont be afraid to buy rashed up fairings. you can save a lot of money buying rashed fairings. they are VERY easy fix. basically sandpaper, filler, and elbow grease. again search the forums for fairing repair. paint yourself or find a local body shop. some shops will offer to do small peices like that as a side job.
dont worry about upgrading to HID lights. the stock halogens are plenty bright. you've got an easy project, just a little pateince and you'll be on the road in no time. '05 is the best year r6, only year with the inverted forks besides the new body.
after you do get on the road, find a riding course!!! not the gay safety one, the ones that teach racing techniques for the road. sportbike form is almost the exact opposite of riding your old yz.
heres a little motivation (mine has been down 3 times)

Been on ebay all week end, dont realt trust it though.
with the HID's i fiurged i would b.c i did it in my 87 iroc and it was a huge difference.
My plans for the bike is to ride on the street, won't go to track with it(well mabe just to try it out.) i have my other toy for that
but i was wondering of bike site like how ls1 has some staple vendors that everyone knows are good , but i dont know anyone eles that rides so I cant ask em.
what mods should i go for since the bike is not full?
I'm planning on finding a corse to take but this bike is sooo differnt than what im used to.
thats a nice build you got their.also what makes the 05' the best yr?

reasons the 05 is the best year imo
1. The looks are the best. its the cleanet looking of all the R6's the lines jut flow perfect
2. The engine has the best overall power, specifically for the street. The current R6S is basically an 05 r6. kinda tells ya something right?
3. conventional pipes look better then that shorty exhaust shit imo
4. tons of midrange with a screaming topend

05 is the only year with the R1 forks and front brakes. Even the new R6S is still standard forks, gotta buy the new body R6 to get the inverted forks. 03 to current R6S is the same bike. VERY little difference between the years. Because each year is supposed to out do the previous, yamaha advertised seriously like 2 hp gain per year. its bs.
The short exhaust thats on the new bikes is referred to as moto gp style. If you havent heard of moto gp, google it. Its nascar x10 for sportbikes. The muffler is called slip on and full exhaust is headers, mid, and muffler. Check out kneedraggers.com for go fast parts.
Honestly, for being new to sportbikes, dont waste time and money on modding it now. Get a season under your belt. The most basic mods are k&n air filter and a slip on. Then look at tires, stainless braided brake lines, good brake pads, etc. The next level mods would be a power commander and aftermarket suspension. The bare engine itself doesnt need any mods. You get faster by riding faster.

I'd definetly reconmend ebay and then there is an r6 forum also. I don't know the site address as I am on the r1 forum only. I bought my r1 needing some work after a wreck for 2200 and after alot of ebay deals I had 2500 into it total. Be patient, the deals will pop up. I think its crazy to part a bike that only had 700 miles on it! I guess he needed the cash fast. I ended up parting mine, but only cause I couldn't even even 3400 out of it and its worth 5k plus in parts.
