Fin Xbox POS
god damit just got the red ring of death . It frooze up like a week ago, then was fine untill last night when it kept freezing up so I said screw it and turned it off. Started it up this morning frooze up as soon as I started it, went to restart and got the ring of death. This f'in rediculous this is my 3rd xbox now gonna be on #4. I'm so freaking pissed right now, it all my freinds were not on xbox I would just go buy a ps3. I think I'm gonna call up the hotline and bitch I don't want to wait for them to fix it or send me a new one. I want to be rembursed I will just go get a new one from wal-mart rather than wait 1-2 weeks. Damit all I wanted to do today was play Modern warfare 2, My gf is out of town all week so I have nothing but time on my hands and now no working xbox WTF.

When was your current Xbox manufactured?
Just curious because I'm considering one.

Get a 360 with the jasper board...a lot of the cheaper arcade models have them and the new elites. Mine has the old Zephyr board but i've been lucky I guess. Anyway the jaspers use less energy, produce less heat and are supposed to be fixed. Link shows you how to spot one.

i take it as an oldies but goodies kind of thing. and ps3s do break and wiis mess up aswell if you do something wrong. but my wii has never been in a position where i, or a friend, couldnt fix it. and the broken ps3s vs broken 360s is nowhere near similar in numbers.

Yeah. Shit was simple when it was just a circuit board in a case which you inserted into a larger circuit board in a larger case.
Now we have a massive hot CPU's, seven graphics processors, a physics accelerator, a million-x speed cd/dvd/bluray/HD drive, 20 fans that make it loud as hell and don't even cool anything, three different directional pads/sticks (brb looking to see wtf I did with my spare thumbs), 5 different menus just to read the disc in the drive, a case whose size rivals that of a small child, 50 different lights that often make you more confused than help your situation, wireless controllers that are wireless so you can easily chuck them at the wall when they're dead 10 minutes after new batteries are inserted, promises of epic games when in reality you get a shit storm of shit games, and you end up preferring to play 20 year old games that require the processing power of the average pocket calculator; all from companies who not only don't even make profit off these consoles and game, but actually go into debt just trying to one-up their competitors in the little pissing contest they have going on.
A 20 pixel man riding on the back of a 30 pixel dinosaur.... Those, were better times.

Since i fix electronics i will say just about every game system breaks though the xbox 360 breaks alot more than usual. Ps3's break and break often just do a quick search on ebay will tell you that so its not just the xboxes and you will find some wii's here and there as well. I just fixed my rrod with the washer/xclamp removal and has been working flawless for weeks now. If its still under warranty send it in. I plan on modifying mine to run cooler but i just wanted to get it up an running so i can play codmw2.

walmart sells an intercooler that adds 3 extra fans and it works for sure like i said the measured temp on my gpu and cpu was about 10-20* cooler during gameplay.

There's mixed reviews about the intercooler..some say it works some say it blocks enough airflow to make it pointless and it voids the warranty. I have the new one that's thermal activated and has it's own power supply...I like it because it stays on until reaching a certain temp even with the 360 off. I've noticed exhaust temps are much cooler so I leave it on.
