Fin' virus is pwning me
so i've spent hte last 5 days fighting this virus i got, and i'm just now able to get online to try for help! it's slowed my computer down SOOOO much, and it keeps popping up windows about "protection center" and "best seller antivirus". i also get these "critical system alerts" on my toolbar that say "System alert: Malware threats blah blah blah". i know it's a virus and i have norton 360, have run the scan several times, and picked up crap, but never been able to get rid of it! help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try booting into safe mode and running the virus scan from there. I'm not familiar with Norton 360 since I stopped using their products but I'm guessing it doesn't have a spyware remover. You might want to pick one of those up and run it as well.

Like the others said, it's not a virus it's spyware. You need a spyware removal program to get rid of it....i've used spyware doctor before and it's pretty good. It always has a monitoring feature that stops the spyware before it gets in your computer.
Oh and stay away from the free porn sites dude...

Stop Watching Pr0n!
Now try this site: http://www.adaware2008.com/ad_aware....FRUsagodyT7GeQ
And this site: http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html
The 1st one looks for ads, the 2nd looks for spies. I use both of them and best of all, they're free!

Sounds like MRSA to me.
If you have win XP you can roll back to your last restore point if you created any. You'll lose all your new porn links you created since though. The lavasoft Ad aware program does works good.

1997 Grand Cherokee- 1999 Firebird.
I've had the same problem in the past. Adaware and spysweeper didn't do shit. I downloaded a TON of stuff and the only thing that worked was AVG. Now I run that and Winpatrol. No more problems.
