My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
Fellow fboders, i need your advice
as many of you know, i had an accident with the batmobile where i bounced it out of a ditch. I'm debating on turning it into insurance or not. I've recived an estimate from a very reputable, local body shop and it's 2200 for the following:
replace/repaint front bumper
replace/repaint drivers fender
replace bumper support
adjust bent frame
I'll be turning 25 this november, i know that's like THE GOLDEN age for everyone and i'd rather see benefits upon renewing my insurance, not see it sky rocket due to an accident. My biggest problem is that If i try to pay out of pocket, it will be a long and aggonizing duration without the trans am b/c i am trying to save money for my wedding next july.
I have progessive insurance. The body shop says they are notorious for only giving out money for what can be seen on the outside. He said they could tell progressive the frame is damaged until he turns purple and they won't shell out a dime for what they can't see.
Has anyone been in this situation before? an at-fualt accident with no police report? Anyone know how progressive works in this situation? Thanks for your help.Last edited by third_shift|studios; 05-23-2006 at 05:41 AM.

Well your deducatable is probably 500 right? file a police report and say someone backed into you. Check the junk yard for parts and just get a paint quote, why have insurance go up and end up paying more than 1500 out of pocket in the long run. my 2 cents

I Saw They Cover The Frame Damage Cause That Is The Whole Reason You Have Insurance In The First Place And Why You Pay Them Incase Something Like This Happens. If I Were In Your Situation I Would Be On The Phone Non-stop Untill It Was Resolved And They Were Covering Everything And You Pay The Deductable. I Dont Think Your Premium Should Go Up Much Since Its Going To Drop In A Few Months Anyways, And If It Does Then Drop Insurance On The Car After U Get It Fixed.
The Louder You Scream About It And Let Them Know Its Getting Fixed And Your Not Paying For It The Better.

I Think They Have To Fix It No Matter What, Its Not What They Can Only See, If That Was The Case Nothing Would Get Fixed. I Think This Guy Is Giving You The Go Around Man. Most Shops Work Closely With Insurnace Companies To Get More Business So They Want To Keep Them Happy

here's something else to consider, reporting it makes it go on the vehicle history. depreciating the value of the car, you're just getting touch up work done, why hurt yourself if you goto sell it in the future.

Just pay for it on your own if you can.
Try and find the parts online and prep them for paint yourself.

progressive, he just wants his money and does not care where it comes from. u need to get on the phone with progressive and tell them that the frame needs to get fixed and do not sign anything untill they pay for everything and fix the frame. u paid them good money to insure this car in case something happened well it did and they should cover it since its body damage

[1568 from 2200= 542] They get their money back...still not sure if it's worth it though...
