Family Pressure-Marriage/Kids
How old were you when your family really starting putting death grip pressure on you to settle down and get married?
I ask this cause my Mother had said to me "I don't care if you get married or not. Don't care if you don't have kids or not. I just want you to be happy"
My Grandmother on the other hand has been pressuring me since I was 18 years old to get married and have kids.
BUT just 2 days ago I come home from work my younger sister was having a BBQ so I go and join the party. I get tag teamed by both my Mother and my Grandmother regarding getting married, having kids, asking when my BF and I are going to settle down etc etc etc......... My Mother also threatened to try and get me on the Bachlorette (sp?)
I'm 29 years old. How old were you when the family went over the edge and annoyed the hell out of you?

I wouldn't know, I got engaged when I was 19, married at 20, and now have a 2.5 year-old son and another boy on the way....needless to say, I think my family is satisfied . And the wife isn't going to make me sell the car either. She's not a bitch like that. She actually told me she would kill me if I ever DID get rid of it haha, so no worries there....as long as there isn't a kid #3....

In our late 20's my wife's mother and sister used to work her over with garden hoses over it. She would always come home crying. I didn't like it. If you want advice, tell them to mind their own business. Marriage/parenthood isn't for everybody.

My parents, and my entire family and hers too for that matter are constantly on us about kids. Seems like everyone wants us to have kids.
My sister has 9 kids (5 of her own, 5 step kids) and my brother has something like 6 or 7 around somewhere.
They think having kids is what you're supposed to do. We don't.
They've been on us for about 7 years, since I turned 25 I suppose.
I don't know if it will ever stop.
My dad is in poor health, I almost wanted to have a kid so he could see his grandkid before he passed away, but he's got plenty of them already. One less stress on him I think.
Anyway, they don't stop so don't expect them to. Just thank them for caring (some people's families don't).

They never did.
If they do...then they like the person you are seeing and should break up with him/her immediately.

I’m 26 and have never had that pressure put on me.
Actually, when I was with my last serious girlfriend (whom my mother did not like), my mom would make it a point to tell me often about how George Clooney was still a bachelor and living it up well into his forties. I guess she was trying to drop a hint, lol.

My parents have never pressured me, actually i think its the opposite! they will be in tears when i get married and move out... im the princess (they take it above and beyond normal parents when they say "princess") my dad is gonna be heartbroken, they tell me stay at home, focus on my future forget guys for now and dont even think about kids because it will hold me back
tell ur family ure doing your thing, when u want to settle down u will. end of it. you're only like 29 right!?! jeeze... thats still way young.

83 Z28 new project- 98 Formula WS7-sold:(
My dad hates marriage since the divorce, so I dont even bring it up with him. I waited over a month to tell him I was engaged. My mom doesn't really care about marriage either, but she does keep the pressure up for grand kids though. Me and the wife are just waiting a bit longer for kids though. We want to get settled in our new house first.
