Experimental Engine.....
So in the always escalating horsepower wars big developments are sometimes made. For many years now Ford has coaxed horsepower to compete with GM and Chrysler from the "relatively" low displacement 4.6L. It's had it's high points, think terminators, but the NA versions can only go so far on that design and displacement. Remember the Mod motor has been around since 1991.
Ford is finally done doing more with less and has decided to do more with more.
With that I introduce project code name 777. Those 7's have meaning... Meaning like 7.0L 700hp 7,000RPM
This engine was put together by roush for Ford using the new BOSS V8 project that will debut on the SVT Raptor later in the 2010 production year. That 700hp is NA btw....... This engine has been running at NMRA events around the country.
Where's the genV V8? I suddenly feel like I need one
I guess we know what SVT has in store for the 2012-2013 Cobra....

2000 Grand Prix GTP- 2000 Trans Am WS6 M6
It will still weigh 1000lbs more than my TA, and with 600hp, I may be able to keep up with it

yea but you dont realize that the new supersnake I read a magazine where they dyno'd it and they overrated that car by over a 150 horsepower, said it was 750 horsepower and it put down on the dyno only a little over 600 which is freakin horrible. The hennessy camaro was rated at 650 it put down 636 to the rear wheels, the poor challenger was rated at 700 and only dyno'd 493 to the rear wheels, whats wrong with this picture. Out of all 3 of them the camaro was faster from 0-60 and 0-100 and run better quarter miles, I wouldnt doubt if this car will be overrated.

I can't find pics of the motor. try googling 777 you will get lots of turbofan pics with stage 1 fans as wide as the fuselage of a 737. Gotta love the GE 90-115B! You will find text articles relating to the engine and how it's been running in the NMRA circuit. Also it's similarities and differences vs the modular engines.

I don't think SVT will EVER overrate an engine again after the debacle and subsequent recalls with the 1999 Cobra.
John Coletti, SVT Chief at the time, basically vowed that never again would an SVT product not make what it claims.
Note the stock RWHP numbers of the 1999-2003 Lightnings (335-360 at the wheels, rated 360-380 at the engine) and 2003 Cobras (360-390 rwhp, 390 rated). They were both significantly underrated.

Well, we still have Nickey and GMPP waiting to fire back at the blue oval. I am sure other GM aftermarket suppoerters are on standby.

We thought it was pretty slick when the first-generation S197 Ford Mustang produced just over 300 horsepower right off the dealership lot. That’s a healthy dose of power from a V8 power plant..or at least we once thought it was. Now, what if we told you the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 is set to produce the same amount of power? It’s true. The sixer of tomorrow that will be in the Ford Mustang for 2011 is rated at a substantial 305 horsepower and also boasts a miserly fuel consumption ratio of about 30 miles per gallon (highway)
