This is to everyone!!!
I saw the thread for quiting smoking and had to post. I quit smoking on 1/1/08 and was up to a pack and a half a day. I still smoke when I drink, only time and yes that isn't quiting but I am down to maybe a pack a week. Wish I wouldn't have started but the military was stressful times I went my first night of drinking without a ciggy and now I am thinking I will beat the demon. To all those out there, I wish you support and "it gets worse before it gets better" that is completely true. Since all of my friends smoke and obvisously am around them all the time, I think I am doing decent. Acually got 2 to stop smoking except when drinking, which isn't great but its a start

I know, that's why I want to quit. My grandmother died of lung cancer, never smoked in her life and my grampa didn't either. It's going to happen, but why waste the cash. I am putting effort into it but not enough, until tonight. I thought it was impossible to drink and not smoke but it can be done. I def will be smoke free after tonight.

That would be the best life decision, but not for me. I can quit smoking but not drinking (may sound like an alcholic). I don't drink everyday and don't make excuses for drinking, I just like to drink once in a while. If I am going to quit, I will do one vice at a time.

I started when I was 13ish and after high school it went up to 1 -1.5 packs a day. I did that until I was 20 when I entered the military and then cut back to .75-1 pack a day and when I would go out drinking on the weekends it would be 1-2 packs a night. Well I got on Chantix back in November and quit smoking December 3rd 2007 and have not smoked since. It is a tough monkey to beat but I just kepty my mind busy with stuff such as designing car paint jobs on Forza Motorsport 2 on xBox 360 and working on my HPI MT2. My job makes me want to start smoking again but I am about to change shops so hopefully it will go away. Good luck with quitting.

My dad was diagnosed in October of last year with lung cancer, he's also go bladder cancer from it having spread. He's taking treatments. It's a long road.
Don't put your kids through it, stop smoking.

use your brain that you were giving and shut off the smoke switch.
it's easy just overcome the illness of smoking (stop)
you can do anything if you put your mind into it.

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but it comes from someone that never saw the appeal of smoking. I guess growing up as a kid and racing to finish dinner before my dad was done eating and crushing out his cigerette on his plate of food was enough motivation for me not to do it. The smell alone gives me a headache. So I know it wouldnt relax my nerves.

Stopping smoking was a lifestyle decision for me. Quitting drinking was a life or death style decision. My liver is currently at the beef jerky stage.
