One of the reasons I do my own work. But if I need a trained mechanic I have a friend that goes to my mom's church. Pretty convenient. Sorry for your loss.

got in a car accident last year, someone at the bodyshop stole a diamond necklace that was in the ash tray. i dont know who i was more mad at, the wife for leaving it in there or the body shop.

Whenever I have to take my car somewhere I make sure nothing I deem valuable is left in it. Pretty much common sense.

Honesty left this country 30 years ago dude. At any rate, i've never taken any of my cars to a shop except to get tires put on, but both times i've stood outside the bay while they do it. I dont trust anyone.

my trailblazer was rear ended the body shop had it for 2 months i think. My wife forgot to take it out and she remembered she left it in there after work. She went there straight from work and it was gone. it was there less than 6 hours.

the necklace was like 125-150ish so im not out much but still.

nobody has stolen anything. however when i took it in to have the tranny looked at they came back with a 2200.00 bill. Pontiac dealer. I told em leave the tranny out and I will PU the car and the tranny. I showed up and the tranny, bell housing, parts the y pipe and exhaust were in the hatch back. They F$#$!@# up the plastic and carpet and refused to fix it. Called the GM line politely to to go F!@#$@#$# myself. This is the last GM vechile I will ever own.

Nothing stolen, but my friend about a year ago had his Grand National in the shop.

He lives about 3 miles away from his mechanic, so he drops it off and walks home because his wife had to work. So he's about 2 miles into his walk when from behind he hears a car come screaming down the road. The car goes flying by him and does a hard turn on a corner and basically slides through it and just screws outta sight.

It was my friends car. Needless to say he didn't make it home, he walked back to get his car.

Good reason to check mileage before/after if you have to leave it at a shop unattended.
