    Energy Savings

What are some ways of making a house more energy efficient. I may already know a few but i'm sure this will help other ppl too.

    What about light bulbs...
I don't like those incandescent bulbs as they are not that bright.

What about LED light bulbs? Do they save more energy? Brightness? Thank you

I've heard those "on-demand" water heaters are pretty efficient........but they are expensive. I believe they pay for themselves in about 3 years.

"On-demand" What do you mean? Also someone told me to wrap all the pipes underneath the house in some type of insulation, does that really help???

on demand means it heats the water as it goes thru the pipe... its a small compact unit...

So instead of constantly heating it, the second I turn on the water to take a hot shower it heats it? Not bad...keep em coming.

timers on ac and the furnace, so the aren't running when you aren't home. set them to come on right before you get home.

I've used the CFL bulbs(swirl bulbs) for awhile now. They have lasted me 4 years so far. In our old college house the electric bill dropped by at least $30 a month from what I can remember.

I did the energy savings light bulbs and it took some time to get use too. Did you check insulation in the garage or attic. Check how high your water heater is set too. Get a programmable thermostat. Tint the windows. Make sure your air filters are clean. Make sure your windows and doors are seealed properly. All I can think of at the moment.

Problem with the CFL bulbs is they have bad things for the environment inside of them.
They're supposed to be recycled properly, but no one seems to know that & they get tossed in the trash with everything else.

Check the temp in your fridge, water level in your toilets. Could try motion light switches in certain rooms. You walk into the room they turn on for so long and then turn off
