end of V8 from GM?
I heard this rumour that GM will be ending the production of V8s by 2009
does anybody have more info about that?
it seems unlikely to me but who knows?

Call or write your congressman/senator and tell them CAFE is a load of crap. Until then I actually wouldnt put it past the company to bow out (because they're forced to).

There was a story in one of the newer Motor Trends that said Ford has been thinking about going to a turbo V6 for its GT.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
i wouldn't be surprised if the fuel-burning engines that we know of will be completely replaced by 2015.

I can't see the V8's completely disappearing... Maybe all the engines will be getting the "Displacement on Demand" thing.. But for the V8 to just vanish.. Not a chance..

I fear that one day soon people will say
"Upgrade to the v6... 2.0 isnt worth your time"
instead of
"save up for a ls1..3.8 isnt worth your time"

after some digging I found this:
http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll...=2008803190474
cliff notes:
-lutz says by 2020 80% of gm's vehicles will be hybrids
-"Lutz has said earlier that building so many hybrids will add $6,000 to $7,000 to the cost of an average vehicle and that most -- if not all -- V-8 engines will disappear."
-everything is because of cafe
so what do you think?
