It was so pointless to recieve that. They should have just skipped right to the check. And wtf is this "lottery" system i'm hearing about re: distribution?

they say if your married, you get 1200 per family and if your single you get 600

I thought it was pretty pointless as well. Government spent a nice chunk of change to send that pointless letter out though

i got the letter a few weeks ago, idk what im going to get if everything, i file my own separate return, yet i'm still claimed by my parents so idk...

I still think they're gonna screw the nation with these checks. IE: They know who gets a check and for how much. So if you dont claim X dollars extra income on next years taxes, they're gonna get ya.

Sucks for you bro, at the bottom of my letter it said something about those who do not receive letters were randomly selected to not receive checks but would instead be the generous Americans who bankroll the very letter I hold in my hands.

well, chances are its a longshot that they'd try and pull that kind of stunt, but at the same rate, how can they just give out 'free money'? I mean, it cost us 41.8 MILLION to send out letters...where the hell did that money come from? Did they charge it to the national debt? Better yet, did they pay tax on it

I disagree. People love to spend money before they have it. Somebody has to be taking advantage of the "Buy now don't pay for a year" promotions or we wouldn't hear about them. This was an attempt to let people know they would be getting cash and to get out there spending it before they get it.
