    Dyno numbers! Post 'em up!

I remember when the LS1 was a fairly new powerplant in the F-body there was considerable debate whether or not GM had actually underrated the claimed factory power ratings in the V8 F-body. So, does anybody have any dyno sheets to back up the claim that the numbers GM claimed were lower than the actual output of the factory (read STOCK) LS1? If so, post 'em up!

There is a sticky on this and elaborate spreadsheet of all the members rides and add-ons with numbers in the DYNO forum section. Check it out!

ALso, dont try to compare one are to another if they are not on the same dyno on the same day.

I have a 1998 issue of Motor Trend and they got 286-ish out of the Formula and Z28......both 6-speed cars. The Mustnag Cobra was like 260-ish. I can look it up if you want.

THey range anywhere from 280-320. Different dyno, different days, people can make them read what they want.

I wasn't so much looking for comparisons between cars as much as I was wanting to compare owner's stock LS1's to GM's factory rating.

Of course they were underrated. It's the same engine as the LS1 Corvette (which was rated at 350hp). They rated flywheel power for the Corvette, as that is the flywheel rating for the LS1 in general. They're not going to advertise the LS1 fbody the same as they would their flagship sports car, the Corvette. I've only dynoed my car once back when it was only a lid and catback with factory y-pipe and it did, I believe, 290 to the wheels.

My 02 SS M6 made 330/342 on a Mustang DYNO with just headers, lid and exhaust. That was also through a 9" rear end which is one of the least efficient.
