Drunk Astronauts

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - After drinking heavily, an astronaut flew on a Russian spacecraft and another was cleared to fly on a space shuttle, according to interviews by a panel of outside experts, the panel's chairman said Friday.

The independent panel was created by NASA after the arrest of astronaut Lisa Nowak in February on charges she tried to kidnap her rival in a love triangle.

"Two specific instances were described where astronauts had been so intoxicated prior to flight that flight surgeons and-or fellow astronauts raised concerns to local on-scene leadership regarding flight safety," the panel. "However, the individuals were still permitted to fly."





Deputy NASA Administrator Shana Dale makes a statement to reporters at NASA headquarters in Washington, Friday, July 27, 2007, regarding a report that NASA let astronauts fly drunk on at least two occasions.

this goes along with my idea that we discontinue NASA and use the funds and all the smart ass people that work there to come up with a solution for alternative fuels. once we get that figured out, we can all get drunk adn go to the moon again.

And how drunk where they? Who where the rats? Maybe the back up flight crew wanted to go and fabricated the amount of drunkenness or the fact they where hung over.

Wow, I think that story sounds like complete .

From what I understand (opinion), is that they are quarantined for several hours before flight. I don't know how they could be quarantined or sterilized (whatever must be done preflight) and still be drunk by takeoff. You know those ruskies love their vodka. Dam peer pressure....
