Droid X question.
Just bought a droid x off a guy and when I ran antivirus and it stated the phone was rooted, what is rooted exactly? Also there is an update available and I am not sure if I have heard that people with rooted phones have bricked their phones when updating, anyone know? I dont really care if it is rooted or not I just dont want to brick the phone.

If you are familiar with Linux, root is like administrator access on a Windows machine. There are reports of rooted DX users who have successfully updated to Andrioid 2.2, otherwise known as Froyo. PM me and I'll send you a link to a very informative Droid X forum, got most of my info from there. The people who bricked his/her phone during rooting did something wrong. Enjoy the phone!

turns out I didnt need to worry about it, i woke up the next morning and it had updated itself, now what case are you guys using for your X?
