    07 MAZDASPEED6 GT

    Question Driving a C4 trans with no OD...

    Looks like I'm buying my next toy this weekend. It's got a 3 speed C4 reverse manual valve body trans without OD. My 1 buddy says I'll burn the trans up driving the car back from VA to NJ. My other buddy says it'll be fine. They are both car guys so I want to punch them.

    The owner of the car says the it is at 2800 RPM at 70 MPH. Obviously, that's fine. (3.73 gears) I know the C4 is a reliable trans. So I don't see any reason why it would break on me. Afterall, it's a street and strip car.

    No, it's not an f-body. I'd like to get some opinions from others though so here I am.

    A tranny cooler and a manual lockup switch will fix the potential problem. However you will burn some fuel...

    Remember to keep the line pressure up when you shift or you will have more problems than just running "hot".

    The car has a tranny cooler. Not sure about a lockup switch.
