"The Dream"

My dad typed this up back in 04 when he was at Ft. Campbell.. found it in some papers the other day and I thought I would share it.

The Dream

You have watched us grow up with our childhood dreams,
Now that dream has been traded for an m-16.

The dream is still there is you didnt know,
Wherever they send us, thats where we must go.

A paycheck to some, a crusade to others,
At home are waiting parents and lovers.

So light your candles and hang your bows,
the call has been answered and to war we must go.

They protest the war all over the globe,
Each country we liberate, they say US go home.

As each day is over and our weapons are cleaned,
We lay down our heads and remember The Dream.

Amen to that. Some people just don't understand. Those that do understand what we fight for know that those who don't, do not have to understand.
