    Does diesel lose its potency?

I know a guy that has a garage full of over a 1000 gallons of diesel fuel that he bought over a year ago before the prices went way up. I was thinking that basically he would end up with a 1000 gallons of useless sludge in a couple years since he's saving it. Does diesel lose its potency after a while?

dont quote me on this, but diesel doesnt lose its potency, but will get watered down from moiture making it harder to combust after sitting for long periods of time

He had it stored in some kind of special plastic containers in the garage. He said something about it being #1 diesel instead of #2 or maybe it was vice versa but he said it was supposedly the "better" kind....whatever that is.

#1 and #2 are different blends...containing different amounts of lubricants...meaning one can sludge up in colder weather easier than the other...but yeah if its stored in a climate controlled building shouldnt be much to worry about, but if their stored say outside behind the garage exposed to temperature and elements then yeah itll get watered down after a while meaning itll be harder to run, and cause a shit ton of problems inw hatever your trying to run it in..injectors, injector pumps, fuel pumps stuff like that
