Does anyone else think this is half ass backwards
New place I work for doesn't allow smoking on the job site but allows smoking in your vehicle on the job site. I understand they don't want butts on the ground but then you would reek like smoke more so then normal. Not ranting but common sense would say a smoker wouldn't be throwing them down on a customers yard/driveway and you would want to minimize the smell. Kinda weird if you ask me

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Cigarette smoke clings to everything and the smell lingers for weeks (if not longer). You ever try painting a room that's been smoked in?
I know as I smoked for 35+ years before I quit 7 years ago. Now I can smell a smoker (when they're smoking) a couple of cars away while driving.

my guess is they'd rather have you in the vehicle a little more out of site than leaning against a building somewhere smoking.....just a guess.

A car in Wisconsin is an extention of your residence in some cases. As you can shoot an intruder entering your car just as if they were in your home. My work does not allow us to bring firearms into any of our offices but they cannot stop us from keeping them in our vehicles even if that vehicle is parked on there property or in there parking structures.
Many times in cases like this there is a reason these rules are in place. Past issues with a few employees often turns into rules for all.

That's news to me on your first part Zinergy. I asked the inspector and he said vehicle or street of of residents property......standing in the road smoking would look a hell of a lot crappier then on property but oh well, still think it's weird

Dip...you get more nicotine, it doesn't effect your endurance like smoking does, the smell doesn't stain everything and you can do it anywhere anytime.

Yep but it does add risk for gum, mouth and throat cancer all of which suck ass. And then you have little spit bottles that you carry around with you if you have to spend long periods of time in doors. And for most smokers chew doesn't give them what they need, smoking cigs isn't just about nicotine, it has a lot to do with the motion of lighting a cig and bringing it up to ones mouth and puffing on it. Get a E-cig if you really want to be able to smoke almost anywhere.

Lot's of places are doing this. It could be worse. When working on the wind turbine farm's most customers have signs all over stating no smoking anywhere on customer ground. That's everywhere. No worry though, it says you can smoke in the work truck. Nope, that won't work either. Our company doesn't allow smoking in the trucks. So, where do you smoke? Also, try spending 12 hours up tower and not having a cigarette because of course there's no smoking in their 4 million dollar tower Rules are meant to be broken. I don't smoke so it doesn't matter to me. Given this is the only complaint, I'd say your new job is going pretty decent!
It could always be worse.Last edited by Hi-Po; 10-01-2012 at 07:41 PM. Reason: spelling

Maybe they don't want you burning the building down, but don't care if you fall asleep in your car while smoking and burning yourself to death.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

Hi-Po: Not even a complaint, just thought it was weird. I smoke but can easily go 8 hours or more without one......still can't figure out why I can't quit though
So you can smoke in the vehicle or on a public street but not in the driveway pretty much sums it up so guess what......if I smoke, that's what I'll be doing because it's the rules
In further news today, I got to sleep in from 6:00am to 7:30am

Most places here don't permit smoking.
Some employers here have designated outdoor smoking areas. But many simply don't permit it at all.
My H3 does'nt even have a cig lighter or an ash tray so smoking is a no-no in it.
I think most newer vehicles these days don't have provisions for smokers anymore..iircLast edited by Smittro; 10-02-2012 at 04:30 PM.
