A different prespective?

The fresh face steps away to the promise of a dawn on a new day.
Upon arrival, he is broken down, ground down lower than the ground.
Slowly, surely, he is ever built up anew.
Finally, the day comes, he is that which he sought to become.

And so he returns home.

He is heralded a Hero, for reasons which he does not fully know.
Surely the hardest has passed, and that triumph is enough.
But all too soon it is time go forth.
Go forth to yet another new reality.
What he thought was done had hardly yet begun.
Broken down by degrees, built up to a new pedigree.
And all to soon this training too ends.

And so he returns home.

He is heralded a Hero, for reasons which he does not fully know.
The ultimate tests draws near, and his loved ones dare not let it show.
And again, he goes forth with head held high.
Over the seas, and through the sky.
Into Hell he lands, blood shed throughout the sand.
Comrads lost, enemies endlessly slayed.
Death faced constantly at the beginning of every new day.
At the end of the battles course, he stands strong for he has no recourse.
His turn is over, the private battle won.

And so he returns home.

He is heralded a Hero, for reasons which they cannot fully know.
Friends gone, nightmares endured.
Family embraced, new dreams begun.
Too soon, too soon his time is up.
Time for him to go into another endless day.
Head held high, his gaze without sway into what the future may.
