Diesel guys come on in
I know nothing about diesels but it's time to buy a company truck for myself and found what I think is a steal. It's a 2002 GMC 14' Cube van with the 6.5 diesel which is exactly (Exactly) what I need. Motor and tranny has been replaced llast year but my question is, are the 6.5 motors any good? All I know is it isn't a duramax and that's about it. Help a brother out LS1.com

If it has a new engine and transmission, I wouldn't be afraid of it. After all, it's a work vehicle. The 6.5 engine is probably going to treat you as good as you treat it. I'm unsure of fuel economy in that type of vehicle.

Looks like the van from Friday after Next that Craig's dad uses to catch dogs lol. Pretty sweet.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

How do the doors lock? Key or like a padlock? Hard to see in the pic.

They lock with key. No padlock except for the rear doors.

If you're short on start-up cash, the 6.5 is great, but if you want to wait, I'd get a Duramax, but that's just me. 6.5s are high maintenance, but if you stay on top of it, you should be fine.

6.5 is possibly the worst diesel engine ever built... don't walk away.... run!
If you need a Van, I'd be looking for a ford van with the 7.3 diesel
If you need a truck, 94-98 dodge with a Cummins diesel

Kinda short on start up since I've had to spend thousands on tools. Getting going is a bitch but I've had some fun

Diesels aren't as favorable to lack of maintenance as cars are. Not changing the fuel filter AT LEAST every 20k (I do mine every 10k) with destroy an engine in no time. Doing that on a gas engine will only drop your mileage. Also not chaning the oil on a regular basis will destroy a turbo, but since most people drive cars that don't have a turbo, they don't realize how important it is to do that (change oil).
