Dehumidifier for safe
I recently bought a personal safe for the house and am wandering if I need to, or is it recommended, to put a dehumidifier in the safe?
The notes on the safe recommend not storing electronic items in it, and I am assuming that's the reason - too much moisture over time.
Any suggestions on type/brand?
In case it matters, the safe is basically for personal storage and is 5.74 cu ft.

You can just put these in it if you want to suck the moisture out of the air. I keep something similar in a gun safe. Home Depot, Walmart, and Lowe's all sell different variations of them. I personally think a dehumidifier would be over kill.

Buy a Golden Rod and put it inside the safe, never have to worry about moisture. I have one that is over 25 yrs in one of my gun safes.

I have always just used the kind like Orange posted. You plug them them in when they have absorbed all they can for half a day and then put it back in. No cords or wires.

Thanks. No wires is a plus. I have the safe in a closet, so I have no electrical outlet to plug anything into. The safe is also fire rated for like 1400 degrees for 1 hr so there's no way to get a cord into it.

I use a gel-pack dessicant, ...once it is saturated an indicator on it's box turns pink, ...and to "recharge" it you just put it in the oven for 2.5 hrs...

I agree -- I think ours has a dessicant sheet in it (kind of like a thick brown paper). If it were larger, I would probably switch over to a packet style dessicant.
