    Damn GM Engineers

WHY?!? did GM engineers find it so damn difficult to add a low fuel light to our cars? Every damn car since the mid 80's has one!

Coming back from the store, thank God I was next to a gas station when I got the stal before it quits. Just made it to the pump. Then on top of almost running out of gas, the station only has 87 octane. AAHGGGGHHHHH!!!!

87 is good enough for DD and wifes DD; I do not like using low octane on our cars. I see a difference when low octane fuel is used. Our LS1's don't like it to much.

    I really want to them

Your car doesn't have a "Check Gauges" light that comes on?

    My '01 did.

Let me correct myself, CEL does come on, but that's because it has died!

Must have been a 99 and later thing. The Check Gauges light and CEL light are different.

it doesn't have a little gauge with an E on one end and an F on the other end with bars in between them? The E stands for Empty and the F stands for Full. If it's on one of the bars then it's somewhere between empy and full. The closer it gets to the E the closer your ass is to walking.....might want to put some gas in it before it gets completely on E.

I don't let my gauge go to E anymore. I used to run mine til the chime rang and the odometer would change to a gas pump with "LOW FUEL". I run mine til the first white notch above the red now.

After my first fuel pump went, and the crap I went through with that, I decided letting it get under a 1/4 tank is a BAD idea.

But, I also have no excuse because I had a E and and F gauge, AND the Check Gauges light...

If my gauge is under 3/8 a tank I fill it. This goes for both cars.
No need to push that fuel pump anymore than I already do.

I always wondered what the hell that gauge was for!

Seriously, doesn't the fuel in the tank also keep the electric pump cool? Less fuel, equating to less cooling capacity, hence more wear and tear on the pump.

    Sadly now demodded :(

I never let it get under 1/4 tank.....

This stems from the old days. Sucking up rust into the carb played hell with the inlet valve....
