Daily driver, what would you buy for under $5,000

If you had to buy a daily driver, either for yourself, your spouse, your child, or even recommend one to a friend, what would you buy that's under $5,000. If you can be specific about the year and model, that would be a plus. Also explain why you chose this car/truck/jeep.

    Thanks.

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

i bet the 99 cavaliers with 65+ miles on them would be near 5k. those are good cars

Parts are cheap, easy to work on, and the 5.0 will last forever if you keep it tuned-up. Not very fast, but has more pickup than a foreign car. You can actually get some really nice ones reasonably cheap. Gets pretty decent gas mileage too. Mine gets me from point a to point b comfortably (although the seats in it were ripped when I got it, so I bought a set in new condition for like $200).

95 or 96 LT1 Caprice 9C1 (police package). I had one before from 165k to 255k miles and besides normal wear items (oil, brakes, tires, etc) all I ever replaced was a power steering pump. Even at 250k + miles it ran hard and that transmission shifted frim.

i would say a nissan pathfinder or pickup w 4x4. i just sold mine for 700 with 230,000 miles and it ran like brand new. the reason i sold it is b/c my wife wanted a tahoe, but that pathfiner was awesome and never gave me any problems in the 5 years we had it. i also had a 240 nissan witch was a another awesome ride that had 298,000 thousand when i sold that one, its like a mini vette, also i though it was great that the only thing you need to do to these nissans is change the oil and drive the shit out of them...
