Curiuos on differences

Ok I'm from Canada and I hear often that the only difference between our prices and yours are the exchange rates so I will mention a few prices or cost of living here and you tell me if it compares....

Salary $3500 a month after the govermnement tax left with $2300

On that $2300 you pay 13% tax on everything you buy including a used car.

I have a 1200 sqft bungalow $3000 in energy for heat and light a year

$3800 In property tax and water tax not including the insurance at $700 a year

Day care $150 per week per child but we get that as a tax credit on income tax on the lower salary of the 2

Your roads are amazing compared to here.....

Gas $4.00 a gallon

Grocery for 2 weeks for a familly of 3 $300 to $350 not including the milk and bread you are missing in that time

Calvin Klein jeans are 75 to 100 bucks 5 dollar t shirts forget that 20 bucks

Timberline boots $169 Sketchers skeakers $89 to $109 a 2004 Durango Limited with Hemi right now about $16000 and that's one that has 60 000 miles to 80 000 miles

Our cars TA or Camaro SS wel,l under 70 000 miles would be between 15 and 20 grand and under 40 000miles over 20 grand easy

So all and all does everything cost the same or are we apart by a lot. I know clothing is at least 2 to 3 times more expensive here

This has nothing to do with cars cars but I always wondered????????We love USA so it is interesting to us


We do have a great health care and I know I was there for 4 months 4 years ago after a snowmobile accident so I'm not disputing it but wondering about it.

The exchange rate right now is not that much different. I think 1:1.15 or something around there.

However, some things are comparable. Things that stick out to me are the utilities. For a 1200 sq/ft place it should be somewhere around $100 a month. Gas is hovering somewhere around $2/gal. I would say the groceries are high. I eat fairly healthy and for 3 adults we could do a little less than $200/week.

Well, you have to keep in mind that you pay for healthcare for everyone too. But I usually bring home 65% of my check after medical/13% to 401k/taxes. I think taxes runs about 17-20% for the average person.

Ok not that different than ours then we are about 40% on average for a decent income anything under 30 grand a year is about 27%

Anything you make over 48 grand OR 60 GRand I can't remember the level is 48% of you income so if you make 58 grand yopu get 5200 from 48 to 58k out of that 10k

It is hard to describe the price differences between Canada and the US as even within the US things such as rent, gas, utilities etc. can be very different.

The only thing I am sure that is different is that in the US we spell “curiuos” curious.

Ok then I'll educate house on 1 level ususally a cement foundation with a basement that is 8 feet in height with windows some are on slabs....usual roof pitch is 7 or 8/12 some have cathedral ceilings some don't

Look up house plans and that is what they use for a reference.
