    Credit card communication tips?

I was looking for some tips in dealing with my only credit card through my credit union.

I have been jumped into their highest rate ( my credit score took a dip etc)
and I pay bill every month. I recently took a $3 pay cut per hr at work and so paying this bill as well as others is much harder. Please don't lecture me on it's my debt blah blah... I understand that. I am only trying to negotiate down the interest a little bit so I can get this thing payed off sooner.

My card company currently has no hardship programs etc. So I called them hoping to just decrease my interest and they wanted nothing to do with it. They said I could suspend my card but I think that would not be wise in case of a emergency. They said your payment is a percentage of your balance almost like the interest rate did not matter However I could not seem to communicate with him that my balance is always growing because of the high interest.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

    what is your rate?
do you still have a bad credit score? have you thought about transfering the balance? or even a partial transfer (though, that might get you in more trouble).

But i hear ya, they set it up the minimums to hurt you. I recal my chase card had a $40 monthly membership fee-FUCK THAT! it was up 2 back 1 with every $100 monthly payment. I bailed when I got a CitiBank card with 0% for a year

if you have been on time for every payment, and made more than the minimum if at all possible, i don't see why they wouldn't help you out? next time, if the rep doesn't go for it, ask to speak to a manager and raise hell. sometimes that works too.

The rate is like 20 or 22 percent. I thought I was much lower until I found that out.

One option is look for a card that has a 0% offer for transfers. Also check into a personal loan through the credit union if it has a lower interest rate. My credit union also has loan deals like a vacation loan that gets paid in 2 years or less with a fairly low interest rate.

My chase card has a 12 dollar a month membership charge, and I get 24% interest charge. And my god, you know how much shit they call me duping me into. I'd get calls saying, Are you "my name". And is "this number" your card account? I'd say yes. Then I found out later I got enrolled in a fucking payment protector scheme through that. I am getting a new card when mine expires in nov.

As for your question. Try calling again. Getting the right person is key in getting shit done. I've called and had late fees(40 bucks) removed even though I KNEW I was in the wrong. Just be polite.

All else fails, transfer to a lower interest card.

But dude, 3 dollars an hour pay cut, that is nuts, you need to unionize on their asses.

It was pretty easy to get a 0% card before all the credit crap going on now. All my cards that offered great transfer rates don't do it anymore.

It's really easy to get into debt, believe me I know... too bad it's not as easy to get out.

    That's insane.

Like mentioned, I would go to your credit union and take out a loan with a lower interest rate if possible.

As long as you make your payments on time, they should be able to help you out.
