    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

    Thumbs up crazy moon tonight!

When I let the dogs out at midnight, it looked as bright as dusk....i was like WTF?! Then I looked up and nearly shat myself. Never saw the moon do this before. it's called a "moonbow" like a rainbow. I couldn't get the camera to focus for shit, but it gives you an idea...

Set the camera on a tri pod, manually focus it and set it to take a long exposure. Should come out pretty good.

    i ALWAYS use a tripod
    Did a 20 and 30 sec exposure @ f28
    then did a 2 second exposure @ f4

It just kept blowing out the moonscape.

Wolfe sent me a cool email:

    short exposure, moon is bright

steady! tripod w/ mirror lockup / tripod / remote release. (small angle of view)

    aperature ... give and take:
small f# will shorten the exposure and be more forgiving on camera movement (&pic blurr) but will give less room for error in focus.

big f# will need a steady (very steady) camera but will not have focus issues (set focus to hyperfocial plus a bit to be sure)

I have tried moon shots and have only gotten marginal results. It is not easy!

Cool looking moonbow. Never seen that. I checked and it is gone, (i'm a little north of you)

one more for you. A partial moon gives more surface detail. The line between light/dark on teh partial moon has shadows that show the craters.

I'm done babbling. Cool shots. keep posting them!!
