considering a 3000 gt vr4
hello, im selling my jeep or trading it in for a 3000 gt vr4. i live in buffalo and i really dont drive my ws6 much because i dont let it see rain, low milage etc, so i want a fun car i can drive all year. how do they go in snow? i know they are pushing like 300 or so hp but will the all wheel drive and all wheel steering make it decently " drivable" for winter? thanks!

well from what ive heard they are heavy as hell and kinda slow for all that weight. also the AWD system that mitusbishi makes isnt all that great, especially in the DSM, same with some of the turbos. Just my $0.02 correct me if im wrong tho

AWD doesn't really matter if you get enough snow to get it high centered enough that all the wheels don't have all the weight on them. Might be ok if the streets are just snow packed or just Icy. But pushing 4K pounds might still be a problem for it.

Any AWD car with a good set of snow tires will handle like a dream. I think the VR4 will be a great beater. It looks pretty good, it was built as a "touring" car, so it handles great on the highways, and has great power.
I say go for it!

my brother has a 98 vr4, the car handles has shity as an f-body in the snow.
Wide tires and and low car will never work well with the wet side of mother nature.
also the trannys are as weak as the stock 10bolts in f-bodys.

Wrx's and EVO's look so damn ugly. Like the pinnacle of ricer looks, with it's squarish body, huge hood scoop, and giant spoiler. Yeah, they've got the power to back it, but I can't stand looking at those things. If you're considering the vr4, check out 3si.org. Also, just as a side note, the Dodge stealth TT is the same thing, and usually a lil cheaper.

pimpin ho's- pimpin ho's
I had a TT STealth and drove 100 miles through 10 inches of snow with no problems what so ever. I also put 213,000 miles on it without rebuilding the engine or tranny. Most of what you hear about these cars is bullshit, they are damned fine cars overall, but with that said, be sure to do some high rpm shifts to make sure the syncros aren't shot to hell, unfortunately alot of the cars did have crap trannies, that one was true.

I read alot about that car before I bought my T/A. I dont think it will be much better . As far as the awd. They were talking about how easy it goes out , and in snow??Might as well just get a fwd that you like,

get the evo MR, cheaper and without a spoiler, at least that's what I'd do.
