Comprehensive Coverage on Aging TA?
I'm wondering if I should add comprehensive coverage to my policy. It's a basic TA with a ton of miles on it, but it has the Ram Air hood (i.e., gets noticed) and is parked on the street. I've never heard of cars being stolen in this neighborhood and I usually use a wheel lock, but it's not a good neighborhood and this city is famous for auto theft. Muscle cars stolen for joy rides - sure. For parts? I have seen fallen tree branches. Also, a car caught fire (big orange flames) near where I sometimes park mine, but that seems like a freak occurrence.

i have full coverage for two reasons:
1) it's the only car i own
2) my luck never fails - if i were to cancel, something bad would happen the next day!

Full coverage on all my cars. If yours is parked on the street I'd definaetely do it.

Okay, thanks. "Wisdom of the crowds." I think I'll get a price quote.

Insurance is worthless.....until you need it.
Regardless of the age or value, if it's your only vehicle I'd pay the extra couple bucks a month for better coverage.
Heck, we had a 1M umbrella policy on our house, 2005 Corolla, and 1998 Explorer.

It's about $100 extra a year. I probably will do that. The only plausible nightmare scenario financially that would handle is theft. If the TA did get stolen, is there a waiting period to see if the car is recovered?

Navy Blue Metallic- '00 Formy A4
Shoot, I have full coverage with $250 deductible on my '97 Grand Cherokee with almost 160k on it.
Paid off too. This past fall some fawker stole my wheels and tires off it. Filed a police report, called my ins. co, they came and looked at it and cut me a check for 700 on the spot (Flo wasn't lying!). Added my 250 deductible to it, and that's exactly what it cost me for new alloys and 31" Goodyears, which look way better than the rusting black steelies and half worn M/T's that were on it.
And the Formula has full coverage too, which also paid off. Some joker pushed a big trashcan into it while I was downtown and scraped up the rear bumper. Got some ins. money for that too.
I figure since I have to park these things on the street, it'd be my luck that the day I take the coverage off, some drunk is going to plow into one of them.
IMO it's worth it, and at least in my case it really doesn't cost that much more.
Being over 25 with a spotless record helps I'm sure. But for both cars with full coverage, I'm paying a bit over 1,400 a year.
