College Grads inside
I recently dropped out/switched to a County College 2 years back. I wasnt doing so well in college so i decided to come to county. Now i want to transfer to a new University (most likley Rutgers) By GPA as of now is a 3.41 and i am on the President High Honors list in my college. I have maintained a steady 3+ GPA in my 2 years in college. Should I feel worried about applying to Rutgers or do u think i will def get admission?

Rutgers is a good school you shouldnt have any problem getting in with a 3.41.

Rutgers is a good school... High academics but you should be good to go man!... Actually looked to apply there before I decided to stay local-ish... Good luck!
Edit... Just did a quick google search and it looks like a 3.27 is the minimum to get into the business school. So that's something you could base it off of? Or maybe just give them a quick call.

Depends on the school/college.
IE, and A&M you need a 3.8 from a community college to get into the biz school. but something like a 3.25 to get into engineering.

They're a large number of people trying to get into the business school but not nearly as many trying to get into engineering. Cause most people are dumbasses and can't handle engineering
Same reason why in the late 90s when I started college it was like a 3.25 to go from lower level to upper level in CompSci, but only a 2.75 for MechE. CompSci was "hot" so they had to weed more people out.Last edited by JordonMusser; 02-05-2009 at 12:24 PM.

My sister had a 3.85+ GPA and was senior class vice president in HS and she wasn't accepted to the University of FL. She hated that school after that. She went to USF instead, and got her MS in 2002 from Berry.

you should be fine.... it is usually easier to transfer than to get in out of high school from what i saw... at least that was the case at IU when i was there

there is one way to find out - apply. never hurts to try. rutgers is a great school to have a degree from. it was way too local for me, but i did spend a fair amount of time there. i think half of my high school went there. just be prepared for the bars on easton ave and the lovely grease trucks.

It really depends on several factors...number of applicants, the major, the school, your standardized test scores, etc...Also, in California, the community colleges have a guaranteed transfer. So when you graduate, you are guaranteed acceptance to state schools like Cal State. See if you guys have something like that too. I am not sure about Rutgers.
Good luck and I hope you get in. You never know unless you try! GO FOR IT!Last edited by Anthracis; 02-10-2009 at 02:01 PM.

that's because its a lot easier to get a 4.0 in high school (IMO, anybody that is above average intelligence and WANTS it)... vs getting a 1600 (or whatever the top score isnow) on the SAT requires somebody that is generally more than just "above average".
I did the oppisite.. I was average in High School (3.9X in Math/Science.. but solid B average in english/history) but did well on my SAT. The same trend continued into college. I dreaded English/History courses and all the BS memorization. But did great in math/science/engineering courses...

You will get accepted to rutgers, are you appling to the one in newark, or the one in new brunswick? I had a 2.7 gpa and got accepted to NJIT, so i dont think you will have a problem getting accepted to rutgers!
