Cobra Jet Wins The Winternationals!

History repeats itself as Ford's new Cobra Jet Mustang wins the Winternationals just as it had 41 years ago.History repeats itself, 41 years later. As you probably already know, Ford Racing built 50 brand new Cobra Jet Mustangs, turn-key racecars destined for NHRA Stock class competition. The first batch were handed over to the new owners, the most dominant of which was Brent Hajek who bought 11 of them. You may remember Brent as the force behind the Mickey and Danny Thompson effort at Bonneville last summer, which appeared on our December 2008 cover. Brent, John Calvert, Randy Ritchie, and a team of others thrashed for the last month to get four of the cars ready for their Winternationals debut, and dressed them up with vintage lettering to mimic the original Cobra Jets' debut at the same race back in 1968.
