    Christmas light pics question..

We have some good yards and houses around here .. I was wondering is it better to use the flash or not .. I know we have a few camera buffs that might have experiences ..

i would think without flash. otherwise, the camera might focus on trees & stuff that are in front of the lights, or the lights might be drowned out.

No flash. You can try manual mode, or if your camera has any other settings like landscape, etc, I would try those out. Every camera is different. My Canon Rebel XS shot my Christmas tree best in TV mode. Either way you shoot, the shutter is going to be slowed down a bit, so set the camera on something.

As always though... take several pictures with various settings. That way you're sure to end up with a few great ones

    No flash!

If you have manual settings on your camera, probably the easiest would be to put in "AV" mode which is aperture priority, jack it up to f/22, get out a tri-pod, and start shooting.

Here are some shots I've taken this year:

    Have fun!
