Chiropractor?
Anybody go to one on a regular basis? I don't have anything chronic going on, but thought it might be a good way to keep the ol' frame in check.
Is it worth it? Are you sore afterwards, and if so, for how long?

I go every three weeks now. When I started it was twice a week. I own my own furniture moving company so needless to say I was rough... I had muffled hearing in my left ear thats better now, heartburn is almost non existant, and my back feels great and movement is better then ever. Some say chiro's are a crock but it's helped me. Call around some offer free first visits (x rays and stuff) It cost me 30 bucks a crack but well worth it.

I get aligned once a month by my doctor. He is a family doctor as well as a muscle-skeletal type person. I can't think of the exact word for it. D.O. sounds right for some reason...
I go since I hurt my back lifting a keg at a job I had 3 years ago. To this day if I do much lifting items off the ground I get a sharp pain in my upper left thigh. Like someone is sticking a knife in it. Getting aligned helps it from coming back...but if I skip a month I am hurting something fierce.
My girl goes once a week for her crooked back. Helps her.

I go at least twice a month, more if I had that time... I am actually in Chiropractic college though so I am a bit bias on the subject

I always felt that they are just a temporary fix.
People don't realize, but a lot of problems can be solved by the mattress that they sleep on at night.

Well being a chiropractor myself, you always need some form of maintenance to keep your spine at its best.
Everything we do from working out, bad posture, stress, bad mattresses, etc. cause minor misalignments which cause damage to the nerves and spine.
It is considered to me a major lifestyle change. Just as you eat right, brush your teeth, workout. You can never quit if you want best results. Going once a week, or twice a month is a way to ensure your spine and nerves are working at their best ability.
To me, health is my priority and I want to to be at my best.

Honestly of course not. If I know their health is improved why would I want to see them quit? Would a dentist want you to quit? Would a gym owner? Would a general physicain want you to quit check ups?
I value health and I myself am an advocate for anything safe, natural, and effective.

yea, but it seems to be quite ridiculous when people go once a week, dont you think?
I mean, me personally, I work out almost every day a week, eat well, etc and I have never been to a chiropractor...so I really dont know what it feels like, but I just know way too many people who are lazy shits and dont do anything and just go to the chiropractor once a week and then feel good for a day or two.
I mean, doesnt that seem like it is boarderline overkill?Never forget, that God hasn't finished with me yet

Yes. everyone is different and it depends on the age, past history, gender, stress levels, etc. For myself I need it once a week because of my levels of working out and amount of patients I actually see a day takes a toll on my body as well. It all depends on an individual basis.

how much does the average visit cost though?
it can't be cheap...most doctor's offices charge you an arm and a leg just to sit in their waiting room and read month-old time magazines.

My girl friends insurance covers it but her co pay is 25.00 her visits cost her 20.00. I believe thats why most don't even bother with the insurance. I screwed my back up at work about 8 months ago I could barely walk, I went in he cracked me twice and two days later I was normal. I guess believe what you want. I don't mind going, I do not like the ones who use a tool I'd rather hear the poping. It does help me stay in check.

but do you ever feel like you become dependant on going? Like you arent going to feel right unless you go again?

no not really, my line of work takes a toll on me. i've had a 3000$ latex mattress, regular spring, now I have a sleep number the last helps best. I keep my appointments 3 weeks apart, and the 30 it costs me is a fair deal
