Check out this weird burn
I dont feel like taking a picture of it, but I got a really weird burn tonight.
So I was checking something in the oven, and touched my knuckle to the heating element. thats things gotta be freakin hot. it didnt really hurt, but i heard a quick little sizzle, and i kinda stuck to it.
I pull my hand back and i have a nice dent in my knuckle, and its bone white. its been about 5 hours now and through the whole thing, it has hasnt hurt, not even a little, I seriously don't feel anything, it hasnt gotten red, swollen, or blistered.
ive been bumping into stuff and even sticking my hand in my pocket
Anyone else have this happen?

That is kind of strange. I've done a lot of cooking in my days and had my share of oven burns. But, at the least some pain and redness and the worst blisters.
I guess if nothing comes of it in a day or so you're good to go. But, it is strange just the same.

I've burned myself a good amount of times with a 900 degree soldering iron and it gets white like that and you don't really feel anything at first, but it does kinda hurt later. No blisters, tho. Can you stab it like in that Adam Sandler movie Mr. Deeds? Just kidding, don't try that. Seriously, hope it's ok. Doesn't sound too threatening.
I don't know why it posted an angry face and I don't know how to remove it. I'm not an angry personLast edited by TexasLS1; 02-28-2009 at 09:14 PM. Reason: Angry face

I was about to oxy-acetylene weld some shit skinny pieces of metal this one time and I picked up this brick that I thought no one was using and burnt the hell out of my fingertips. Turns out someone was just using said brick. Anyways my finger prints were gone for a few months. And I couldn't play bass until the blisters healed. Nothing like this though.

I cant get any pics that look right, the macro on my camera isnt the best, but i think since I posted this, some of the burn has worn off, its a shiny white, kinda the way blister looks. but it was a chalky white. It looked powdery at first....its really freaking me out

Happy Birthday.
Really keep it clean with antiseptic...you DO NOT want a burn getting infected....

Happy B-Day Spikito. Hope this day goes better for you.
It sounds like you have a 3rd degree burn which is likely to start hurting pretty bad. Check out this article.

On the bright side you will get some killer pain meds out of this. So things aint all so bad. If you don't have insurance do what Sarge suggests and clean the heck out of it.Last edited by ezwip; 03-01-2009 at 07:35 AM.

yeah it looks third degree to me as well, but its small, just the top of my knuckle. I'm in nursing school so keeping wounds clean is kinda my thing.
after showering this morning theres still no pain or redness. it looks like it blistered, but stayed flat, like theres just some fluid underneath.

Have you tried touching it to the heating element again? You seem to be really really worried about it not hurting, so fire the oven up as hot as she goes and touch it in there again, this time hold it for a couple of seconds. Also, I've found changing #8 is a great way to make your knuckles feel pain.

Shit, you need to get a real Man Burn like mine. I went right back to work getting soaked in Diesel fuel and 90w oil. Here are some cool pictures for yall.
Started out like this,
Then turned into this,
Yea, that left a wicked scar on my arm. Whoops

And I swear to god that did not hurt. Sure it was really uncomfortable, and dry... but never did I think... O man, this hurts like hell!!! It just never hurt? Went to the ER a day later and she didnt believe me and gave me Vicodin. Whatever.
