Silver/Black- 00' z28-R.I.P 00' WS6 M6
which car should I get?
Ok so in 1.5yrs I'll be graduating and I'm gonna have some money set aside for me to play with, my parents had put away money for my college, but I got a full ride I didn't use any of it. So I get to use it on whatever I want once I get my degree. One thing's for sure i'm probably going to be selling the Z28, but I can't decide what I want to invest in. Here are my options. (i'm gonna have roughly 21K to play with)
C5Z06: I'll prob have a little money left over to do exhaust and that's about it.
03/04 cobra: Same, I'll have some left for exhaust and maybe a couple other things, but that's it for the time being.
07 GT500: I'd have to pay about a third of it off in payments, but it should be paid off in about 2yrs, but I wouldn't have any money for mods for awhile.
WS6: I'd have a good amount of money left over from this purchase (roughly 10-13K) depending on what I get. In this case I'd use the money to do full bolt ons and a H/C setup or go FI. Either way I'd be aiming for atleast 450rwhp
EDIT: I will be daily driving the car on the highway to south western medical school in dallas, roughly 30min drive both ways
Right now I'm moving away from the thought of a Z06 just because of the lack of back seats and the ride height would mean a painful life for the car and myself around where I live. What would you guys do?Last edited by LeadFarmer; 05-12-2011 at 10:09 AM.

Keep the Z, do a full bolt on for a weekend toy if you must. Use some of the $$ to get a good solid DD that you can abuse going back and forth to work.
Also invest in a home fund so that you can buy one when ready.
Your young, save while you can and invest wisely. The toys will come later.

I would agree with saving for a home and modding the z28.

Buy a daily driver and mod the Z28 bit more for fun. I would say get a WS6 but you already have the Z that makes no sense unless you are going after the styling of the TA WS6. ZO-6 (C5) or used C6 would be cool but you want a backseat so that won't work. The Cobra would be nice but they have a small tank and don't get the best gas mileage. GT500 don't waste your time or money.

dangit, stop answering with yalls brains and answer with your "car penis" lol . I don't plan on getting a house anytime soon, if anything I'll get a condo/apartment with a friend which won't cost me much, I don't plan on getting a house until well after I'm done with grad school/getting married. So I have time to save up for that, I just wanna treat myself a little once I'm done with college. Am I being unreasonable for thinking like that?

Then sell the Z28 and get a WS6 that is modded. You still need to have a daily driver vehicle though to save you in gas.

c5 hands down... no weak ass rear unlike the WS6 (unless that has been replaced/upgraded), gt500... they ballooned the advertised power and are worthless... the 03/04 cobra isn't a bad choice but the C5 will still be faster and handle better...

You asked - we reply.
Look at it this way, learn from some of our mistakes.
Your life cycle.....
under 20 your a moron that thinks you know it all, already
20's you grow, learn and make a shitload of mistakes.
30's you start settling down, but are young enough still want to moderately party.
40's you start looking back and realize your stupid mistakes are starting to cost you.
50's you start wanting everything you didn't/couldn't have in your 20/30's
60's you start looking at your future and hoping/planning on retirement
70's you just happy that you lived this long and still have your marbles while hoping you can still have
80's and up your still here?

don't get me wrong, I appreciate your thoughtfull response, but there are several reasons why I feel like I need a different car once I graduate.
1. I don't think i'll be able to stand driving an auto much more, first car I drove was a 5.4 swapped mustang GT-5spd, and second was a turbo WS6 M6, since then all I've ever wanted is a stick, but I didn't really have control of where the chips fell at the time and ended up with an auto.
2. I want something w/o a ton of miles on it, my Z28 creakes and rattles worse than a screechy old house no matter what I upgrade, so I think it was great toy to have through college, but it's time to move on to something else.
3. I don't want a seperate DD(unless it's a bike, which wouldn't be smart because of the distance I'll have to travel), I don't want to pay insurance for two cars with my age, and I don't think I can drive an econo box on a day to day basis, I had to with my first car and I hated it, I can't even go a day without wanting to drive my Z-badly. Plus they'll be easy highway miles.

Sunset Orange Metalic- 2001 Camaro SS
My advice is to wait till you're just about through with college. Your plans will most likely change. I don't think your decision will depend on this thread least i hope not
On the other hand if i had to pick it would be the c5z06

Why start and risk anything with a new car? You already know your car and know what to expect from it more or less... right? So fix what needs to be fixed, get some heads, cam, rear end, suspension and call it a day till you can buy a C6 Z06 or a car of equal power

I bought my SS when I was 22. Paid 32K for it brand new. I bought my house when I was 23. I'm doing just fine and then some.
Don't listen to these haters
