I firmly believe in the concept of capitol punishment. But its implementation is completely fubarred. I do worry about the innocent man being executed, yet I feel the appeals process is a joke, it keeps a man on death row for 20 years at the tax payer's expense. Take a case like Brian Nichols, for instance. This happened in Atlanta so I am familiar with the case. He was on trial for rape when he grabbed a gun off a bailiff and went on a rampage, starting with killing multiple security/police persons at the courthouse, and a man at his own house for his truck, among others. It's pretty much indisputable that he did it. Now he will be on trial and appeals for years, when he should just be taken out back and put down like any other rabid dog.
As it is now, it does nothing to deter crime as it is meant to do. Hell our overcrowded jails/prisons pretty much indicate that our system does nothing to deter crime at all. There's so much focus on a criminal's rights. Break into someone's house and hurt yourself in their home and you can sue them for unsafe conditions AND WIN.
I love that our system tries so hard to protect the rights of everyone, but in this age of political correctness it goes too far and gets taken advantage of, and not just in the case of criminals rights...

OP Debate threads belong in the political/debate section. This like a few other topics will get heated and have a wide range of opinions.

If 5 or more credible witnesses saw you do it, then it's time to die. As soon as that guilty verdict is read you go out back of the courthouse and they put a .22 LR in the base of your skull as you're walking out the door so you never see it coming. Ala Goodfellas and Pesci's character.

Every criminal should have a shoe randomly thrown at them.

I am an advocate for beating the living shit out of them. put them up in the stockade with their bare ass showing with a wooden paddle there so anyone can flog them! it is amazing how public humiliation will turn someone around. I also don't like leathal injections and the electric chair that costs too much tax payers money. Instead bring back beheading in the guillitine or hanging, at least the rope, guillitinte ect can be used many times over. I do not think it counts as cruel and unusual punishment because they used it long after the revolution.

Part of the problem is that they usually think execution methods that mar the body are 'cruel and unusual' Which is complete bullshit. It sometimes takes the poor bastards 20 minutes to die by lethal injection, and sometimes the inmate reports that it hurts. But it leaves the body pristine for burial and that's really what matters.
I'm all for the guillotine as well, or a simple shotgun blast to the head. Quick, painless, dead in a moment, it's over. But no that makes a mess and thus it's 'cruel and unusual'. Fucking pansy ass tree hugging hippies. And yes, that's me saying that.
