Cant complain too much with microsoft

I have a xbox 360, and 2 weeks ago i got my very first red light/error 74, thankfully it happened within 1 1/2 months of the extended 3 year warantee was up. got it back this morning, i was happy to see it was MY xbox that i sent in, but they gave me a new serial number model number and date of manufature sticker. they re did it to where they show my xbox was made 3-1-10 so i have yet another 3 years of warantee on this thing. so i cant go wrong there. oh also got a free month of xbox live too. so i thought id share my not so crappy experience with xbox. sure it was crappy that it red ringed in the first place, but repaired, xbox live for a month and another 3 years, will make up for it

How do you know it was yours if you got a new serial #, etc...?

they gave me a new sticker, serial and id #'s were the same as mine that i sent in, they printed a new one with the new mfg date..

Cool...I just got mine back today. It's a replacement, new serial etc...I didn't have anything special done to mine so it works for me. It's been down for 6 months, finally got around to sending it in and it only took a week to get it back, but I only live 20 min from the wharehouse/repair facility.

i work with people doing lease returns a lot... they run into problems where when the machine arrives back to it's destination the serial number doesn't match and the machine is refused... i hope they updated your account to reflect the change of numbers or you could be shit out of luck if it happens again...

If you get the 3 rings, There is a "special" warrenty specificly for that by the way if you didnt know :P

yes i knew the 3 red rings qualified for a specific warantee. error 74 qualifues for this also

Fixing the xbox for free is the ONLY thing microsoft did right with the 360. I'm just gonna leave it at that because I will get hot talking about it and my bias opinion will ruin this thread.

Honestly I agree,

A couple of years ago my CD-rom drive went, to much halo and COD i guess.... Anyway I replaced the cd-rom myself since it was out of warranty. Of course it stands to reason that the old Red Ring of death hits me probably 6 months later. And of course I had to break those little stickers showing the case hasn't been opened for the warranty.

Ended up sending it in and not mentioning it to them, I was fully expecting them to see it and throw a fit like many companies do.... I got nada.

1-2 weeks later I got it back, been running great ever since. They never gave me any troubles.

Mine ringed this past weekend. fixed it myself in 30 min.(plus a trip to radioshack,lowes) If it happens and its out of warranty it is simple, if you can change oil you can do it.
