Can someone figure out some math for me?
Ok im starting this new job where we work for 2 weeks (14 days) then off 1 week ( 7 days) throughout the year. What I want to know is compared to a regular M-F, 8-5pm schedule, how many days are actually "work" days and how many are "off" days throughout the year for both schedules? Thanks

2 on 1 off schedule means one out of three weeks will be off weeks.
52 weeks a year divided by three
= 17.333 weeks off a year
about 120 days off
52 regular 8-5 weeks a year with weekends off is 52 times 2 104 days off.

How many hours per day will you be working during those 14 days on at your new job?

Math boggles my mind.
Its for an environmental company, traveling to different sites and injecting surfactant into the ground to clean up hazardous materials underground. It going to be alot of just waiting around once everything is setup to make sure everthing runs OK. My last job i was just reading water meters for the water company making 11$/hr and this new one is 33k/yr so im pretty happy with it, its time to make more money considering I am almost 30 years old.

MAAAAAN. well that job lasted one day for me then i went back to work for the city, im glad they took me back or i would have been screwd. I wasnt told everything in the interview then i got out in the field and saw how it really was.
Sure its 2 weeks on, 1 week off, but during those 2 weeks on you work 12 hours a day or 12 hours overnight, 7 days a week, 84 hours a week, 14 days straight, no overtime pay because its salary. WHAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!! and not being able to come home to see my wife while staying in dumpster hotels. I learned a big lesson, more money is not always better.
What would the hourly pay be on that since no overtime pay im curious.
33k/yr
84 hours/week for 3 weeks every monthLast edited by Mike Hawk; 02-27-2007 at 08:29 AM.

Two week on, one off does not work out to you working 3 weeks per month unless I missing something.
Here is how I figure it:
52 - weeks/year
x 2/3 - % of weeks worked
34.7 - weeks worked/year
x 84 - hours worked/week
2,912 - hours worked/year
33,000 $/year
2,912 hours/year
11.33 $/hour
