This is a discussion we started on another thread and I just thought it would make a good thread of its own..

Right now i'd say the maro because it's more mass market and competes with the stang/challenger.

GM needs them equally at this exact point in time. The Maro sells a lot more then the Vette due to lower prices and the economy. The Maro also fights/competes with other "Pony" cars in it's class. The Vette pulls in big money per car and competes with exotics that are upwards of 2 or 3 times it's price. The Vette is also in performance races that get Chevrolet's name out there

Man: The Mods you are fighting,
they are the biggest Men I have ever seen. I
wouldn't want to fight them!
Me: That is why no one will remember your name!

I know, I'm just not a race watcher unless its live at the track........ Just an opinion, I don't hate on anyone that likes watching, different strokes for different folks
EDIT: But onto the Car itself.....if someone thinks thats sexy....... :idon'tevenknowwhatsmileytouseforthat:

The Corvette is a "halo" car. The "aura" from it rubs off on other lesser Chevrolets.
Its existence provides advertising and brand awareness for Chevy.
Same way the Dodge Viper did more for Chrysler than spending millions in advertising would have done.
Vette will stay as long as there is Chevrolet. I wouldn't be surprised if the Camaro went away again. It's pretty ugly. And porky.Last edited by CJREX; 04-25-2011 at 08:39 PM. Reason: Had to fix my spelling flub before '67 saw it.

Interesting article, despite sagging sales, I would attribute most of it too increased gas prices and the economy. I still stand behind my notion of Vette would have to stay and Camaro adios if one had to go.

Ok so lets put it in this way ... lets say back in 02 if GM had went and stayed with the Fbody could it be the car the Vette is today ..???

IMO they are in different classes. The corvette is marketed to people who want or own corvette's. And the same can be said about the F-Body. Yes the corvette has 58 years of history and the camaro has 37. When I think of a corvette or f-body I just don't think of the most recent model. I would take a 69 camaro over anything current and over any year corvette.

doubt it,the reason the f bodys went away was they weren't selling enough, so it wasn't profitable, that trend would have just gotten worse with the new 05 mustang.I think both camaro and Corvette would have suffered if GM kept making the camaro. we car guys don't like it but it was the right business decision at the time.
