Calling all Chicagoans - Chicago Police Dogs
Hi everyone - I know it has been AGES since I have been here, but I always had good experiences on this board and a helping hand is always appreciated.
I just thought I would give the heads up to anyone who has ever cared for, about, or respect our K9 officers in the field.
I am beginning a website (www.Protect-a-K9.com) that should be up in the next 72 hours.
This site's sole purpose is to collect donations for CPD K9s bulletproof vest needs. I will have more information soon, but a dollar here and there helps a ton. These vests are stab/shank/bulletproof and average $800 a piece - which is more than most departments can afford, especially Chicago.
Donations will be accepted via PayPal and possibly via mail at one point.
My goal is to vest just ONE K9 officer by Christmas-time.
If you are worried about this being legit, please PM me as I do not feel that I should sell my good intentions on this board.
Anyhow, pass this around, email it, get the word out as this is very important to me and my heart that loves these dogs that go in head first to every imaginable situation.
Take care
Nick + Maverick + Schapps + Heidi

i've never heard of a vest being stab proof... i thought knives and armor pierceing bullets were the only things that would pierce a BP vest???

Green- 94 Camaro 3.4
Well, alot of the body armor actually has solid plates sown into the kevlar... it makes them heavier and more bulky(and more obvious) but can make them stab proof for whatever suface area is covered by the plates.
Oh, and there is very very little that a human can wear that can actually stop a high-power .50 cal shot, so everything is relative I suppose

I dunno, I think if you wore like .50 plate steel armor it could prolly take a hit... of course, trying to walk around with that one you would wish you were dead, so its give and take, LOL

A K9 would more than likely be stabbed than shot.
I do not see many bangers out there carrying the AE arm cannons either.
Thanks for looking -
Just pass this along and I will update when the site is live.

BTW - I had an account here in 1999 when I owned my SS.
Had over 1500 posts, apparently it's wiped.
I did not want you to think I was a newbie spammer.

Probably not. But that's the same thing as asking if human police officers get shot at that much: Probably not, but you would sure as shit want one if you were getting shot at. It's insurance, and those dogs are much a part of a department as the humans are. Why shouldn't they be granted the same protection?
