C5 or WS.6?

well the title says it all basically which one is better i have found a 98 corvette 6 speed targa top and has 84xxx on it got down to 14 already. or a ws6 with lower miles? or there is the 01 ws6 6 speed 39000 miles. and around 14 also.

Corvette is a better car than any Fbody.

Everything else about them is open to individual tastes.

This question is asked quite often. As cjrex said, the vette is a better car but it's about personal taste. Where I live I see Corvettes every day, everywhere I go. But I have only seen 3 other WS6s within the 4 counties that I regularly drive through. I think that my WS6 is just as flashy if not flashier than the Corvettes, and it's certainly more rare. I like it better because of that. Like most kids I always wanted a Corvette but now I'd rather have/keep my WS6...

Those aren't necessarily two distinct choices because the 2nd is subjective.

The first one could be pretty false too, my Trans am is already faster then a c5 with just exhaust.

There are less WS6's out there than C5's... A lower mileage true WS6 would be my choice. I would only go C5 if the was an FRC or ZO-6.

If I had it do over again, I would have bought a C5 instead of the 98 Trans Am I had... Put $10,000 down on a $15,000 car and pay it off in in 6 months, I almost kick my ass for not doing so.

Owned both after I bought my C5 and then drove my WS6 it was like night and day the WS6 sat for months then I finally sold it...

I love my Bird and all, and T/A's in general, but no question, if it's within your means go for the C5.

A friend of mine just got one, it's a super-clean black on black 6-speed '98 targa with 55k miles. The car is just pure sex (except for the Y2K wheels IMO).

I haven't driven it yet, but he's had a few F-Bodies, a '86 TA and a LT1 4th gen T/A, and he tells me the Vette is night and day compared to the T/A's, and that he'd never go back.

He tells me the ride is very smooth compared to his Birds, and that alone sells me, since mine rides like a covered wagon. Seriously, I think my lifted Jeep rides better. It definitely doesn't ride any WORSE.

Only thing I don't like about the Vette is the "Vette tax" on parts and the fact that people will see you coming and think you're an old man. My buddy says he gets a lot of looks from people when he's in the Vette, because he is NOT the typical Vette driver, not by a long shot.

My WS6 is a sweet ride, very smooth and comfortable...

I have the opposite example. Back in 99 I had a friend who bought a c5 from carmax. In fact it's his fault I became an f-body guy. He took it in for service one day and I went with him. While there I saw a black 98 TA on the lot, bought it the next day!

Anyway, we both drove each other's cars and we both liked the TA better. I might've been biased, but he wasn't. He didn't like how low he sat in the vette and was more comfortable in the TA...

Just goes to show, opinions are certainly going to vary on this comparison. Have you ever seen them sitting side by side? Style wise, I was surprised at how similar they really are. His c5 was also black, and aside from the spoiler and the different popup lights, the bodies look darn near identical...
