    It's a 4 bed, 3 full, 2 half with a 4-car.

Here's the front of the house. Garage entry from the side.

Back fence looking to the house. The garage is on the right. The double-deep bay has a garage door into the back yard. That'll be nice when something breaks in July or August.

Main living area in the back of the house. Getting a flat panel TV and putting it on the built-in. Shopping for a pool table for the middle of the room. I want two billiard stool/table combos - one by the wet-bar the other by the fireplace. Also shopping for a four-place bistro-height table to go in the foreground to the left. Curtains are coming down and the valance will be changed to match the felt.

Kitchen and breakfast nook off of main living area. Needs work, I know. New appliances will be first along with wallpaper demo and new paint. Eventually I'll get new counters. Thinking Corian for the main counter and matching granite on the breakfast bar and wet bar counters.

It needs carpet mod too. The master suite has the deepest burgundy wine red carpet in it - HIDEOUS!!! The funniest part about that... the carpet is less than a year old.

Anyways. It's got everything I want. New double-hung, double-paned windows. Ceiling fans everywhere. New furnaces. New'ish A/C units. New water heater. New roof (post-Ike, I think). Big garage. Good foundation. Front balcony.

It just needs cosmetic enhancement. It's in great shape, excellently kept up. The finishes are just very, very old-school.

No pics of the garage yet.

I'll wait until I've rolled the Cobra in there before taking those.

If you don't mind me asking how much was it and what's the sqft of the house? I'm looking for the same kind of features.

I think someone would have to pay ME to buy a house in Detroit.

I don't need so much house by any means. Nor do I consider it necessary or even desirable. I'm single for crying out loud. The insurance rates suck because it's so big and the property taxes could be better... - BUT -

I'm buying it as an investment. All of the big ticket, expensive mechanical upgrades have been done. I can do most of the cosmetic upgrades on my own labor dime while living in it.

My mortgage is tiny thanks to my dad's life insurance policies.

I'd like to get married and have a family. If I want to stay here, we'll have all the space we'll ever need. The mortgage will be paid off and the stress of making that payment every month will be gone. If we want to move, we can sell it off (hopefully for a gain) and go wherever we please. If it does come down to selling, like you say, 21st Century America wants bigger and more... I'll get more of my money back.

The car's status is lonely and dusty.

I hate working on it in the shop where it is now.

And I got frustrated when the headers wouldn't fit.

It's going to a fab shop on the way to the new garage.

After that I hope for some progress.
