Bought a new toy
I recently picked up this bike for $500. Figured that it will be a good bike to continue to learn on for a season or two. It runs like a champ, but definitely doesn't look the greatest. I plan to buy some fairings, replace the windshield, and paint the bike. It'll probably be another $800-$900 to do everything.
Painting the rims. I don't care that I got paint on the tires because the chords are showing so they have to be replaced.
Before scrubbing the calipers....I thought they were painted black!
After scrubbing the calipers
Top of the carbs before cleaning

A crude Photoshop of what I want the bike to look like. It'll have a red windshield though and red bolts for the fairings.

The bike came from the factory with purple rims. It actually looked pretty good! The bike was originally a dark purple color with those purple rims. Then the person who had the bike before me decided they wanted to try and paint it black so the purple rims didn't match anymore. And the black paint on the tank was actually only primer and looks pretty bad.
K&N Air Filter.....amazing, I know

Looks like this is something you're going to have a lot of fun with. You mentioned you'd keep it for a year or two to learn to ride. What's on the agenda next?

I really wanted a Honda CBR1000 but I couldn't get approved for financing because I have like no credit. I figure in a year or two my credit will be better after I build some credit through credit cards and save some money. Plus, I thought the 1000 might be too much bike to learn on.

I love to get out there and ride. It sucks having the bike on stands and I'm not able to enjoy the weather we've been having and ride. I can't wait until Friday when I'm able to put tires on and ride it again!

Here's some new photos of everything I've done. Added some LED's underneath on a switch that's mounted inside the reflector light. Painted everything so it's all glossy black and pinstriped red. Still have some more stuff to do like carbon fiber mirrors with integrated turn signals and then a converter box to turn the brake lights into my turn signals. Gonna shave off the back and add some L brackets to connect the license plate to. It'll look a lot sleeker!
