Bought a new Ram 1500 4x4 last night

2015 Ram 1500 4x4. First new vehicle I've ever purchased...everything else has always been slightly used "15,000 miles or less". Absolutely love it so far and I'm officially ready for some snow lol Traded in my white one for the black one. The 8 speed transmission is making a pretty huge difference so far because my average MPG has gone up by about 6-7mpg without me changing anything about my driving. I did drive an ecodiesel and I didnt like it...lacked power compared to the Hemi's I've owned in the past so I couldn't justify spending the extra money for it.

Nice truck. You don't need to wait for snow.... go find some mud or trails. Or just a field. Really though the first thing to change out on any truck is the tires. Stock tires are for the road. Once you get into a couple inches of mud they really don't do shit.

I just can't get over these short ass beds everyone has on 1500s these days. I keep running out of room in my 6.6ft bed. I would like a 8ft bed but I need a longer garage. My neighbor sells cars for a Milwaukee Dodge dealer. He let me keep a 2014 1500 for an entire weekend because he thought it would convince me the 5.8ft bed is enough..... it just solidified my belief that it isn't.

I worked out a deal with them where they are going to swap my tires from my old truck to this one. They were only a couple of months old and MUCH better tires...they are bigger tho so this better gas mileage isn't going to last very long

I wonder how the 8 speed does with towing? I mean 8 gears is great for MPG but does it get annoying when towing 5k or so lbs? Constantly shifting up and down and up and down with every hill and valley? Or maybe tow mode is smart enough to work around the shifting?

That's a good question and I even asked that myself. It does feel like it shifts a lot right now. Definitely way more than my 5 speed did.

Either way it's a nice looking truck. Dodges are fun to drive with the 395hp v8. They feel good. I just love the way the new GMCs look though.

I actually like the Sierra's as well...in fact, it was one of my trucks that was in the running but I could not get this much truck for the price I got in a GMC. I would have easily spent another $8,000.

Yes you could always get more truck with dodge than GMC. Dodge sells the Ram Express(quad cab, 5.7 liter 4x4, tow package) for under 30k brand new once the rebates are factored in. No way can you get a Sierra 4x4 5.3 liter quad cab for that price brand new.

Technically yes...that recall was what started this whole thing. I was reading about it at like 830am yesterday morning and saw that my year model was in the group so I headed down to the dealership. They could either buy mine or trade it on a new one, so I opted for a new truck and just traded mine.

They basically gave me fair trade value but if I didnt get a new truck they would have just cut me a check. Interesting situation for them...I've heard it could cost well over $2billion to make this go away.

I am too, I know multiple people with 2009-2012 rams.

What year and miles was you old one? And if you don't mind what did they consider fair market value at this time?

For some reason I thought Toyota was fined over a billion for the floor mat/unintended acceleration recalls

It was a lot...I know that much. I dont remember the number but I remember how big of a deal it was.

I also remember the explorer firestone recall/suit that happened a while back because of all of the roll overs.. That was another huge recall if I remember correctly.

Nice truck. I still cant figure out why the hemi trucks get smoked so badly by other gasser trucks though. I know the Rams are heavier than the GM or Ford trucks, but the Hemis seem to be lacking.

Holy shit those 6.2 GM trucks are fast. 1.4 seconds and 10mph over a hemi ram through the 1/4 Even when CD tested a quad cab 5.3 4x4 Silverado it went 15.3@92.

Doesn't the ram and tundra weigh like 300-400lbs more than a GM truck?

Sorry for the delayed response...I some how didnt see your question.

Mine was a 2010 2wd 1500 Sport with leather and no nav. They gave me $17,200 for it and it had 101,000 miles. With that said, my truck was pretty damn close to perfect and I'm not saying that just because it was mine. I am crazy meticulous when it comes to taking care of cars lol the interior still looked new.

With my options the trade values ranged from $15,700 to around $17,600 and they gave me $17,200 so I was on the higher end.

The one I got has everything tho...nav, heated and cooled seats, 4x4, leather, technology package, led lights, etc etc etc.

Not bad for a 2wd with 101k. My moms husband is taking his 2010 Ram Crew cab 4x4 with 70k on it in. I think he owes 10k on it still. It will be interesting to see what they offer him.

The 5.3 Silverado and ram are pretty close in the 1/4 mile. Those 6.2 liter trucks are rockets. Maybe the 8 speed in the ram is slowing it down due to extra shifts???
