This is pretty much unacceptable. A standby passenger was asked to leave the plane to make room for an overweight passenger who arrived late and needed extra room. The overweight passenger ONLY PURCHASED ONE SEAT. This goes completely against the airline's stated policy of overweight passengers having to purchase 2 seats. I expect Kevin Smith to have a field day with this.

I can see them bumping a standy before she got on the plane. But to ask her to leave after she was seated, for an overweight passenger who did NOT follow the airline's policy is not acceptable.

In this instance, she says, airline personnel may have been influenced to choose a faster course of action to reduce embarrassment for the late-arriving passenger.”

The "late-arriving passenger" is only 14 years old, and his or her age may have been the reason why airline staff were in a hurry to free up seats.

So hey let's not embarrass someone for being overweight. Now perhaps if this was a strictly medical issue there might be some merit to it. But if it's just your average lazy overeating American teenager, then fuck him. Political correctness is ruining this country. This wasn't a frickin cancer patient. We can't 'embarrass' a fat kid because he can't fit in one seat, but kicking off the skinny person is ok because, what, it's a compliment?
