Bolt on Challenger low 13s
Just got the August Hot Rod, they took a new challenger and put a Borla cat-back exhaust, K&N cold-air kit, Nitto 20-inch drag radials, and a diablo sport predator handheld tuner. It managed to go 8.33 at 85.74 mph which converts 13.07 108.88mph
Im pretty happy to see that its not as bad as it was talked up to be.

That heavy of a car...probably doesn't translate into those exact 1/4 mile times. Wouldn't be very far off though.
Still...not bad. Low 8's for a stock car is nice.

Yeah, not to mention the driver wasn't the greatest and the track they were at is a higher elevation, 2,000 ft+.

Kinda yes and kinda no, right? I mean, we all know it's heavy. I'm more interested to find out what it runs right out of the box since adding exhaust and tires (among other things) isn't a very good comparison. Although at least it gives you an idea what it takes to run low 13's since it won't right out of the box.
Would you say 13.70's right off the showroom floor maybe?

Shit, I got an old 76 dodge shortwide bed that doesn't have any problems..
infact, I've owned it for 6 years, completely rebuilt engine, tranny, and rear end. and it still cost less than the maintenance fee's on my damn camaro. (which i've owned for a little less than 2 years.)
I still love my z though

Yeah they are easy 11 second cars with just a kit, tune, and drag radials. Give it a few months you'll see them at all the tracks blowing off 11's ALL day.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Knocking 2 seconds off from stock will create issues. It does even on a previously 15 second stock car that is now a 13 second car.
You should know as well as anybody...adding power creates issues.
Just because you have no problems with spray, doesn't mean everyone is that proficient with it.

The Charger SRT8 is a very low 13 second car stock. I'd imagine that the Challenger SRT8 couldn't be any slower than its sibling.

So, with that being said, the modifications they made to run the 13.07 they ran in the Hot Rod Magazine really didn't make it any faster since 13.07 is a very low 13 second pass. Right?
Or are we talking semantics now, and something that runs 13.40 is a "very low 13 second" car too?

I was implying that something seems inconsistent.
Modifications were made and then a hand held tuner used?
Also, it is my understanding that the car in question did not run a 1/4 mile. It ran a 1/8 mile and we are relying on a calculation to extrapolate what the 1/4 mile time might be.
13.4 is not a "very low 13 second" car, IMO.
Stock Charger SRT8s have run high 12s. Take the small sample that dragtimes.com provides for stock charger SRT8 and average them and you get 13.1x, which I do consider a "very low 13 second" car. Granted, this is not a fool proof strategy but it gives a better idea of the real picture than one particular car's calculated 1/4 mile.

Motor trend shows that the challenger runs the quarter mile in 13.1 @ 108.3 mph

I was under the impression it was a Diablo tuner, but I can't remember from the video I watched.
I think the best 1/8th mile time I noticed was 8.33.....with everything perfect, it'd be hard pressed to be quicker than 12.80's, period. The curb weight is advertised at or about 4,140 lbs, without the driver. With the mods they installed, I can't see it being a ' very low 13 second car' right off the showroom floor.
