Birds Nests FTL
On a nightly basis, I have to park the T/A outside. The next morning, there is ALWAYS the beginnings of a nest on my intake manifold. I then proceed to clean out the debris by hand, and continue about my day.
The next day, same thing. More stuff for a birds nest.
Anyone have any ideas how to deter birds from building a nest in the engine bay?

12 Gauge and bird shot, then simply wait.

Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 T/A Firehawk M6
I can see it now.... late at night excrider 121 hiding in camo in front of his open hood in wait. 12 gauge in hand, birdshot loaded. Finally the bird, holding a twig in its mouth lands on his intake manifold.....
BOOM!
Bye bye birdie.
The next day on LS1.com:
excrider121: Killed two birds with 1 shot. Car no start wat do?

Are you sure it is birds and not mice, rats, or some other four-legged critter? Seems strange that a bird would go up under a car and on top of the engine unless you routinely park with your hood up.

Mice and rats build round nests too. I have seen a few nests in the airboxes of cars I have worked on.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Mice would have been my 1st guess. Mice like to hide. Birds generally build nests up high where they can see around.

Put a cat on a leash in your engine bay overnight... and don't feed it the day before.

Make sure you throw the nesting material in the garbage or burn it. If you are just throwing it twenty feet away long your house, it's make the rebuild job really really easy.

put a mouse trap on your intake manifold....should take care of your issue. Highly unlikely it's a bird....most likely a varmit of some kind.

Thankfully not. He was making his house right under the driverside fuel rail. I've been told they like to chew on injector wires...

Better a mouse nest than a hornet nest.
(And yes, this junkyard rat is speaking from experience!)
