Paris was great. Best sushi I have ever eaten.

    Also liked Hamburg Germany.

Coolest thing though was staying in an 11th century castle for our hotel in Alsfeld (hôtel schloss romrod).

Never been, but on my list would be... Several areas of: England, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. In France, not so much Paris, but definitely the beaches of Normandy and the American Cemetery in Normandy.

I guess i am kind of biased......

But there are some really lovely places to visit, here in the UK.

Contrary to popular belief it is not howling down with rain every day
and the Lake District is just great to drive around.

Switzerland is also an unbelievably picturesque country to visit
    but rather expensive!

I would skip Rome and Paris, unless you like touristy areas. Pick pocketing is bad etc., if you have your heart set on those areas, I'll speak no more.

Some of the best places in Europe are off the beaten path, but I wouldn't go to Europe without seeing parts of Switzerland, southern Germany and western Austria. The Alps are just amazing.

What are you into, what peaks your interests? And most importantly, what kind of budget?

Are hotels more your thing, or are you traveling alone, maybe stay in hostels etc.?

London, Paris, and Rome are the most tourist accommodating (language translation, food choices, public transportation, and tourist hop on/off buses) and each has a large number of must see sights that are readily accessible. Amsterdam is a lot of fun but not as many big name historic sites. If you go to Germany things are a bit more spread out but some must sees include Neuschwanstein and Rothenburg ob der Tauber or you can take your rental car to the Hochenheim Ring and run the circuit. Czech and Prague are also big favorites to see more old European cities.

Agree. ^^^ Well I lived in Germany for 3 yrs. Budepst or Boodyfeast as we called it was "nice". Berlin was great, Birches Gardens was awesome as well as the Eagle's Nest. Octoberfeast...enough said.

Paris was nice but the ppl snobbish. Austria was beautiful to.

I lived in Brussels for 1 1/2 years and had a blast. Granted that was 17 years ago so things may have changed since.

I did the pub crawl in Prague, and "free tour" where you tip the guy at the end. I actually enjoyed the touristy tour and the pub crawl was so much fun, I did it two nights in a row. Other than that, it was a quick stop, but enjoyed it. Everything seemed more reasonably priced too.

The most memorable part of the tour was when he showed us some of the govt. buildings where the people threw the politicians out the windows, oh and where the xxx diner scene was filmed.

I would have liked to have seen the club where the movie was also filmed, but forgot all about it.

I really liked the Alsace region of France. It was not far to Germany and Switzerland and not that far from the Alps. What kinds of things do you want to see?

Forgot to mention, if you intend to drive, go to your local AAA and get your international driver's license now. You may be able to rent a car using your US driver's license but as soon as you get into an accident or pulled over they will want to see an international drivers license.

I bet you're right. They might ask for one if that were to happen. But I had no mishaps, so no need for one. I suppose that would be the safe route.

Cost is $15 and two passport size photos (most Walmarts have passport photo booths). It really can save you a lot of hassle in an emergency. If you go to the AAA web site you can even fill out the form in advance to speed things up when you get to the local office.
