Best James Bond Movie Tournament, Round 5

In celebration of the James Bond movie franchise's 50th anniversary, I thought it might be interesting to have a James Bond movie tournament to select the all-time BEST James Bond movie. The rules of the tourney are as follows:

    1) There will be 5 "elimination rounds" to choose the best movie of each of the Bond actors to portray the character more than once (Connery/Moore/Dalton/Brosnan/Craig)

    2) The winner of the 5 elimination rounds will advance to the "Finals" along with George Lazenby's single movie. So, we'll have 6 choices in the "Finals" round to select from.

For the fifth and final elimination round, we will be selecting the best of the 3 Bond installments of the current 007, Daniel Craig. And after you vote, feel free to post comments about why you voted the way you did, etc.

You should, it's great and Javier Bardem does an outstanding job as the villain Silva. I still liked Casino more overall, but Skyfall was very good.

Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig movies shouldnt even be included in the Best Bond of all time. The new school Bond character (craig) isnt what James Bond has always been about. Quantum of Solace was absolutely horrible too. It's all about Connery and Roger Moore, although Pierce Brosnan was an excellent Bond for the new age, he pulled the character off perfectly. Brosnan suffered from poor scripts though (with the exception of Goldeneye). The lack of voting in the connery and moore threads tells me most people here havent even really watched those movies.

I disagree that Craig is not a good Bond but fully agree that Quantum of Solace sucked like a crack whore.

I like Craig's no BS interpretation of Bond, and also that he doesn't rely heavily on the "witty" double entendres that many of the other Bonds sling about.

Wisecrack one-liners to the bad guy are what Spider-Man does, not Bond.

And that's the beauty of opinions. We can all have one. And lack of voting is because this forum is mostly a ghost town these days with mostly guests viewing who can't vote. I've posted these same polls on two other forums, and they're all getting plenty of activity.

CJ, that's exactly what the Bond character has been in the past. The producers just haaaaaad to take it in a new direction. Craig just doesnt fit as well.

I disagree and so does the Austion Powers movies as they exploited the one liners used throughout many bond movies often. They made a joke of it because bond has always been like that. More so in the Roger Moore days and after but he has always said corny shit.

I'm ok with that list. Maybe Brosnan above Moore, but it's close. Brosnan suffered from mediocre scripts (except Goldeneye).

I agree it could go both ways. Moore was in some good 007 movies I thought but he was too goofy, too jokey and he had to much input in the movies themselves. I mean they had one of the best stunts where a car did a corkscrew over a river and they brought it down a few notches by adding in a stupid sound effect made by one of those childrens flutes that has the stick in it.

The Man with the Golden Gun definitely wasnt the best Moore movie. A bit hokey indeed.

I bought Quantum of Solace the other day and watched it again in stunning Blu-Ray. While it's not a bad Bond movie, it still isn't near as good as Casino Royale and Skyfall. It just doesn't seem to be as strong in plot and I feel the villains (Dominic Greene and General Medrano) aren't as strong as Le Chiffre and Raoul Silva (best villain so far in the Craig Bonds, imho).

Coming from a family that absolutely loved these movies....

    1. Connery
    2. Craig
    3. Dalton
    4. Moore
    5. Bronsan

I actually really liked Dalton a lot and wish he would have been in more of the movies. As for Craig, he has modern day appeal for us women who think he is absolutely epitomy of sexiness.

I also thought Skyfall was "okay", just seemed really long and dark. 007 movies through the years to be had a lot of quirkiness to them and Skyfall was definetly lacking in that.

I think all of ya'll are missing the point of the Craig era.....

They have taken away most of the campy, quirkiness, etc and made it much closer to the novels and with a much more credit to realism. They've made him human.

Everyone loves the gadgets but that wasn't what the novels were about.

Maybe its just the way the movies were portrayed in the 60's and 70's that made them campy. I don't know.

None of the Craig Bond movies have that quirkiness to them. While they're a continuation to the saga of 007 films, I'd consider them more to be a 'reboot'. And the primary reason for their being different and seemingly more human (Craig) as compared to the Connery, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan movies, is due in large part to the overwhelming success of the Bourne series of films with Matt Damon.
