I think the best current player is Lebron personally. Followed by Dwyane Wade.

Kobe is a jackass, and not much of a team player so honestly I probably wouldn't want him on my team, but still a huge talent.

If I were a GM building a team with todays current rosters, I would still start with Duncan and Lebron would be very close behind him.

Lebron is the truth. He's completely dominant, has already made a run at the ring, is the youngest player in NBA history to accomplish nearly every major statistical milestone, and he plays TEAM ball. Guy has 8+ assists per game on the regular. At 6'8 250 and strong as an ox but with speed to boot, he is the guy thats gonna save basketball. this is all imo obviously

I have to say Duncan. My favorite player is Dirk even though he lets me down in the playoffs every year.

Best player vs MVP vs favorite player varies greatly here.

Best players would be in no order:
    Kobe Bryant
    Dwayne Wade
    Kevin Garnett
    Lebron James

    MVPs would be:
    Steve Nash
    Dirk Nowitzky
    Tim Duncan

    My personal favs would be:
    Steve Nash
    Amare Stoudamire
    Lebron James
    Tracy Mcgrady
    Dirk Nowitzky

6.5 assists on average which is below what Garnett has. I personally think garnett is the best player in the league right now because he can change the game on both sides of the court. Lebrons defense is very suspect and he gets beat by a lot of average players when he is guarding them.
